Leah Derksen

As Scottsdale Martial Arts Center’s Office Manager, Leah oversees the center’s day-to-day operations, which may include:

  • Opening/closing the dojo
  • Answering phones
  • Registering new students
  • Preparing pre-test and belt promotions certificates
  • Taking merchandise inventory
  • Making deposits
  • Keeping the center clean and tidy

Students, and parents of students, can count on Leah to provide assistance with:

  • Making any necessary updates to existing student records
  • Replenishing dojo materials — including beverages, toiletries, pamphlets and brochures
  • Providing answers to any questions

Leah is extremely personable, helpful and cheerful, and consistently provides great customer service!

A martial artist at heart, Leah has trained in Wado Ryu karate with Sensei Ray on and off for more than 20 years. In addition to training hard, Leah participates in karate tournaments throughout each year — from competing in tournaments and serving as a tournament judge to helping organize events. Currently a brown belt, Leah also serves as an assistant instructor and a belt promotion judge, whenever needed, for students ranging from seven years of age to adults. Leah is also training to become a black belt by 2016.
